Ostrov Hawaii
Čo vám mám povedať o tejto neuveriteľnej krajinke? Nuž na začiatok by sa patrilo vás oboznámiť s tým, kde sa nachádza. Pre jedných samozrejmosť, pre iných záhada. Minule totiž niekto povedal, že sa toto súostrovie nachádza v Karibiku. (že by v Milionárovi?) Vedzte teda, že sopečné súostrovie Hawai, ktoré patrí štátu USA, sa nachádza pekný kúsok nad rovníkom v Tichom oceáne. Tvorí ho trinásť ostrovov, ktoré každoročne zaplaví nejedna prílivová vlna tsunami alebo zaleje láva z dvoch najväčších sopiek: Mauna Loa a Kilauea. Domorodci veria, že to má na svedomí bohyňa sopiek a ohňa Pele (áno, je to ako ten slávny futbalista), ktorá sa háda so svojím protivníkom, bohom vody a morí Kanaloa. Keď podídete k sopke, možno zastihnete nejakého domorodca ako si vraví: „Aloha oe ino eia. Iho nie Paha oe e maka ai, ke ai manei Pele!“ Je to niečo v zmysle „Zľutovanie s tebou, človeče, pretože tvoja smrť je možno na dosah. Všetko nivočiaca Pele prichádza.“ Nedoporučuje sa brať si akýkoľvek suvenír z vody alebo sopky, pretože miestni vám povedia, že vám to prinesie nešťastie. V mnohých prípadoch majú pravdu. :-(
Čo teda na Havaji podniknúť? Výstup na sopku je naozaj nebezpečný, ale navštívenie svetoznámej pláže Waikiki už stojí za reč! Môžete sa po nej prechádzať, opekať svoje telo do hneda (tí nepozornejší aj do červena) alebo sa kúpať v Tichom oceáne. Všetko je lákavé.
Vyskúšajte tanec hula! Mnohí z nás ho poznajú pod názvom hula-hula. Pozostáva z vrtenia vašich bokov. Dámy si zatancujú a páni sa potešia pri pohľade na vrtiace sa zadky domorodkýň.
Tí, ktorí sa radi zdržujú v modernejších mestách by mali určite navštíviť hlavné mesto Honolulu, ktoré sa nachádza na ostrove Oahu. Dohovoríte sa tam hlavne anglicky, ale aj havajsky. Honolulu je veľmi vyspelé obchodné centrum Havaja. Pri pristátí na letisku vám dajú okolo krku veniec kvetov – tradičný a typický práve pre Havaj.
Havajčania sú veľmi priateľskí ľudia. Stále sa len usmievajú. Tradiční Havajčania hovoria havajsky a veria v havajských bohov. Sú však dobrými rybármi. Je to aj preto, lebo ich predkovia sem prišli z Tahiti (havajsky Kaihiki, pretože havajčina nemá písmeno T).
Havaj je teda ešte stále poznačený ľudovou kultúrou, ale i zásahmi USA a príchodom turistov. V tejto nádhernej krajine si môžete dokonale oddýchnuť a prežiť tie najrôznejšie dobrodružstvá. Stačí len objaviť tie správne miesta.

Poznámka: Všetkým, ktorí poznajú slovo Havaj (Hawai) pod významom „verejné toalety“ by som chcela odkázať, že v tomto článku slovo Havaj nemá z daným výrazom nič spoločné. Za pochopenie ďakujem.
